Maps of The Imagination
with Sarah Bunker
We will start the day with an inspiring slide-show, looking at some of the extraordinary ways artists and others have mapped things, from fantasy islands to politics and emotions.
The rest of the day will be devoted to making maps, using old maps for collage, and lots of different media so that you can create colourful, evocative charts (or ancient-looking, mysterious ones!) from a playful, imaginative point of view.
We will make a classic folding map together and there will be plenty of time to try out other types of your choosing, from a pirate chart full of sea monsters to a faux phrenology diagram; maps from memories, dreams, your favourite book... Whether there’s a map you’ve always wanted to make, or you like the idea of making one, but don’t know where to start, I can point you in the right direction with ideas, techniques and materials.
No previous experience is necessary, and I will provide all the materials. This will be fun and may get messy, so wear old clothes. 14 years and older.
£35.00 includes all materials
