Plough Storytelling Circle
First Thursday of every month
or call the Box Office on 01805 624624 (if we don't answer leave a message and we'll get back to you) or email us on mail@theploughartscentre.org.uk.
We're going ticket-less to save trees! Just give us your name and booking number when you arrive.
Since people began to talk they have gathered around fires and listened to stories, and although we cannot provide the fire, we can give you the opportunity to enjoy that very human experience.
From November the Plough Storytelling Circle has a new home at ThePlough@StAnne's, St Anne’s Arts and Community Centre, Barnstaple.
The Plough Storytelling Circle is a lively, forum for listening to and telling stories. Folk tales, mythology, modern stories, personal stories. All told in the time-honoured way of the oral tradition storyteller - from memory.
Anyone and everyone is welcome to tell a tale or just to listen, and we also enjoy occasional music and poetry. It is a supportive and friendly environment for beginners and more experienced storytellers to try out stories and hone their skills. And stories would be nothing without people to listen to them.
The circle has been running for five years, originally at the Plough Arts Centre in Torrington. Over the pandemic we retreated online, but are now more than ready to burst forth in the gorgeous and atmospheric St Anne’s Chapel.
We will be meeting on the first Thursday of every month at 7.30pm, starting on 4th November.
Tickets are just £2 per person to include refreshments, book online, by ringing the Box Office 01805 624624 or on the door.
So come and join us and briefly step out of the cold, dark world into the vibrant realms of the imagination.
