Anne Jackson
Originally inspired by the trials of “The Bideford Witches” in 1682, Anne Jackson is engaged in a continuing project, commemorating some of the women executed for witchcraft in England, Scotland & Europe; and considering the fears & metaphors surrounding the idea of “the witch”.
On Feb 1st at 2.30 there is a FREE illustrated talk by Anne Jackson about her knotted tapestry work. She will tell the story of the development of ‘The Witchcraft Series’ of tapestries, originally inspired by the trials of the ‘Bideford Witches’, the last three women to be executed for witchcraft in England; and how she came to make the tapestries. (Lecture and questions 50-60 minutes)
