Michael Fairfax: I was brought up in a thatched cottage in the woods, trees have been my life blood throughout my career as a sculptor which spans 40 years. I work predominantly with wood, in many guises from woodcarving to working the live wood, and creating sound sculptures by attaching strings to trees and roots.
The pieces in this exhibition are some ear harps (sound sculptures) to play and listen to with your ear, to whittlings from different trees that bring out different aspects of the way branches grow on different trees, each one an exploration, evacuation, a show and tell.
