We strongly encourage entry online. To enter your poem online please use the online entry form.
The entry fee for online entry is £5 per poem.
The entry fee for postal entry is £6 per poem.
Entry by post: Here's what you need to do
- Read the Conditions of Entry carefully, and follow them to the letter.
- Download the entry form (Word or PDF) to send with your entry.
- Please ensure that your poem does not show your name. Poems are judged anonymously, to protect the integrity of the judging process. We will assign a unique ID number to each poem, which will allow us to identify the author of the winning poems after judging is complete.
- Enclose with your poem(s) payment, by cheque or postal order, of £6 per poem. Please make your cheque payable to 'The Plough Arts Centre'.
- Put your poem(s), entry form and payment in a strong envelope (ideally one into which your entry will fit without being folded more than once). Please be sure to stamp it correctly - we receive a large number of under-stamped entries, which will normally be returned to the sender unopened.
- Please do not reinforce your envelope heavily with tape: it's not necessary, and we'll have to use scissors to open it, risking damage to the contents.
The deadline for all Poetry Competition entries is 5pm, 28 March 2025 GMT. Entries received after this time will not be accepted for any reason.
Please leave plenty of time for your entry to be delivered. If an entry is delayed in the post and arrives after the deadline, it will not be accepted.
If delivering your entry by hand, please check the opening times of the Plough box office. Entries posted through our door after the box office has closed on 31 March will not be recorded as received until the next day, and so will not be entered into the competition.
