Still Moving will create a live research space which connects to the exhibition In-tuition and will reflect  conversations and encounters in and around Torrington - please feel welcome to interact with the objects - and let us know if you have suggestions or additional offerings. Currently featuring the work of  Katherine Lockett-Clark and a display of an ancient map of Great Torrington (exact date unkown) kindly leant by our Museum.

Originally inspired by the trials of “The Bideford Witches” in 1682, Anne Jackson is engaged in a continuing project, commemorating some of the women executed for witchcraft in England, Scotland & Europe; and considering the fears & metaphors surrounding the idea of “the witch”.

On Feb 1st at 2.30 there is a FREE  illustrated talk by Anne Jackson about her knotted tapestry work. Amanda McCormack

Supported by an Arts Council England DYCP grant, photographer Amanda McCormack spent six months capturing images of Fremington FC’s female teams from the Wildcats, who start at 5 years old, to the women’s team aged 16 and up.
The project has been about more than just getting action shots says Amanda: “I wanted to show the strength and resilience of the girls' sport at grassroots level. I got much more than that. There have been many exciting moments but the quiet, off pitch scenes have also provided some beautiful images telling the story of what grassroots sport is all about.”... more

Colin has worked as an artist since leaving school 50 years ago, and paints in both Watercolours and Oils. Many of his paintings are based on the rural life here in the West Country on farms and markets and also its rugged coastline and small harbours.

'I use the camera to record people and places by the light of the full moon. Shooting at night requires the use of exposures of about a minute.

I record the wildlife, plant life, weather, seasons, star-and moonscape, and the cottage, at Halsdon Mill where I live. In the intimacy and focus created by opening the shutter in the quiet of night and for a minute at time, I am exploring the deeply human wish for connection with one's surroundings and the natural world; the need for rootedness and home.

This exhibition  contains  work by artists who are all great in their own right but very different. So the idea of exhibiting them together - instead of creating a themed show or finding a group of artist's with similarities - is about looking for the kinds of differences that might show these individuals  in a new light.
